About Me

The Basics

Hi, everyone! I am an aspiring public relations professional currently in my senior year of study at the University of Oregon. I spend most of my time here working on campus as a lead communications assistant for the College of Arts and Sciences, where I oversee a team of three to manage social media accounts reaching over 500 students. I also hold a front desk and internal communications position in the School of Journalism and Communication undergraduate advising office. These experiences, in addition to my studies, have inspired me to go into either strategic or internal communications when I graduate.

Where I’ve Been

I’ve been an Oregon resident my whole life, spending my weekends outside and in the beautiful nature this state has to offer. This inspired me to go to the University of Oregon, where I could study my passion for communications while staying in my home state. The past few years here have allowed me to develop skills in social media strategy, content creation and design. I’ve also been able to explore working in student affairs through being a peer mentor for first-year students and working closely with academic and career advisors. This experience sparked a new passion and interest in me for higher education as a career path.

Where I’m Going

Because of these experiences, I’m hoping to either work in communications within higher education or the outdoor industry when I graduate. Outside of public relations, I’m also exploring a career path in academic and career advising through my work and potentially graduate school. I aspire to find a way to pursue both of these passions, and using this blog to explore PR efforts in the outdoor industry is a start to that!
